Series of 3 concerts on 3 stages in Liège - imagined by the Hopper Ensemble
THE LINE #1 – O’Callaghan 10 of april 2025 – le MOM – 20h
We invite Canadian composer James O’callaghan and the Paramirabo Ensemble (Montreal) to join us on stage for an evening of cross-creation, with a world premiere of a new piece for the Ensemble Hopper and the Paramirabo Ensemble. The concert features the participation of the Centre Henri Pousseur pour la réalisation électronique (Liège-based research center for electro music).
THE LINE #2 – Slinckx/Basura 27 of september 2025 – Uhoda – 20h
We have the infinite good fortune to be able to perform two days of concerts in the private collections of Mr Uhoda, a totally unique setting, surrounded by contemporary works.
On the program: our quadriptych “H”, a massive work (45 minutes) by Belgian composer Pierre Slinckx, recorded by Cypres. Opening the evening is the Argentinian improvising duo “Basura”, who come to us from Buenos Aires with a decadent musical installation featuring cathode-ray TVs, a garbage catapult, visual improvisation on youtube and electric guitar!
THE LINE #3 – HopperLAB! 12 of december 2025 – TBD – 20h
The final concert of the season will feature compositions from our regular HopperLAB! workshop, which runs for a full year and welcomes 5 young composers from the conservatories of Liège, Brussels, Gent, Mons and Maastricht. We also invite our Maastricht-based “Intro in situ” partners to present a collaborative work, written for Ensemble Hopper by Reggy Van Bakkel (NL) and Ethan Blackburn (USA).
The young Liège composer Ruben Maurer will be premiering on this occasion.
